Australian Short Stay Tourist Visa (ETA)
What is an ETA?
An ETA is an invisible, electronic visa for people who are entering Australia for tourism or business purposes (e.g conferences, business meeting or negotiations).
How
long can I stay in Australia on an ETA?
You can stay in Australia for up to 3 months per visit. If ytou would like to stay longer please contact us direct.
Can I re-enter on the same ETA visa?
An ETA is valid on your passport for 12 months from the date of issue and is a multiple entry.
Do I need to have evidence of a ETA visa in my passport?
No, once your visa has been granted your passport number and personal details are electronically stored in a database. At check in, your passport number will be checked against the database and permission to enter Australia granted.
How long does it take to obtain an ETA?
In most cases an ETA can be granted within 24 hours, though occasionally the Australian Government may refer an application in which case a copy of your passport may be required.
How will I know that my visa has been granted?
Visasdownunder will send to you a visa confirmation letter (this is not your visa) to confirm your details and visa gratification.
Do I need to have a return flight booked before I enter Australia?
Yes, as part of your visa conditions you will be required to have an outbound ticket that departs Australia within your 3 months limit.
You have the choice of 'Business Short' or 'Business Long'. the 'BS ETA' like the visitor ETA is assigned to your passport and will expire 12 months from the date of issue. However, the 'BL ETA' once granted will be assigned to your passport for its lifetime.
How much does an ETA cost?
Visasdownunder charge only £15 for all ETAs. However, the Australian Government charge an additional $70 for the Business Long ETA.
I would like to stay longer than 3 months. Should I have an ETA?
You could still apply for an ETA though you would have to leave and re-enter Australia to restart your visa. However, Visasdownunder recommend the subclass 676 tourist visa for up to a 6 or 12 month stay.
Do I need travel or health insurance as part of my visa?
Visasdownunder strongly advise you to buy a good level of health/travel insurance before you leave.
